Oct. 3, 2009. This week we feature photos from a glorious week we spent in Canmore and Banff, Alberta, and at the beautiful Lake O'Hara Lodge in eastern British Columbia in the Yoho National Park.

We have long wanted to go to Lake O'Hara because many of our painting heroes have painted there, including John Singer Sargent, Carl Rungius, the Canadian Group of Seven, A. T. Hibbard, and Walter Phillips. This time we accompanied our close friends the great contemporary painters John and Terri Moyers, who have painted on the spot outdoors in this region for many years. Access to the lake is extremely limited and by permit only, and after you arrive, there is no internet, no cell phone, no TV. You have an opportunity to completely forget the events of the world, to hike on well maintained but rugged trails, to eat delicious gourmet meals at the lodge, and totally decompress and relax. Evenings are spent in conversation with the other guests, many of whom have had extraordinary experiences in traveling all around the world. And, you are surrounded by the most stunning scenery imaginable.
If you click on the thumbnails below, you will be taken to a series of photos related to the theme.

We will leave these photos up for most of the month of October.
